Program Description

Event Details

Skagit Kids Read Week is an annual celebration of literature marked by community readings, events and activities. The Skagit County Commissioners make a formal proclamation declaring the week as ‘Skagit Kids Read Week’, a featured author is selected and their works become the central theme of the week. Join us in promoting literacy and the joy of reading!!

This year our featured author is Barney Saltzberg who wrote "We're All In The Same Boat", a picture book that inspires young readers how to work together for the common good.

Community members will be reading this book at local schools and libraries and also providing school libraries with a copy of the book.

The main event to celebrate Skagit Kids Read Week will be held at the Children's Museum of Skagit County on Saturday, May 13.

"We're All in the Same Boat" will be read in English by author Barney Saltzberg, and Spanish, Mixteco, ASL and more by community members.
